The UNCG Speech and Hearing Center provides evaluation and treatment for individuals experiencing changes in thinking and memory skills. Cognitive changes may affect attention, memory, problem-solving, organization, and the ability to complete everyday tasks. These difficulties can occur due to conditions such as concussion, traumatic brain injury, stroke, neurological disorders, or aging. Cognitive rehabilitation focuses on improving functional skills and helping individuals participate more fully in daily life. Therapy may include restoring cognitive abilities when possible and developing practical strategies to support independence at home, school, work, and in the community.
